Recently, the European Commission through the Commissioner for Transport and Energy have launched the Freight & Transport Logistics Action Plan.
For this purpose a Group of Universities, Institutes, Research Centres and Training Organisations from all 27 countries in EU have met in Brussels to discuss and evaluate the draft document launched by the Commission.
This event was co-ordinated by ITENE - The Packing , Transport and Logistics Research Institute of Valencia Spain. Malta was represented by Mr. Alex Borg, the Director of Support & Supply Management (SSM) Group Ltd. The group of experts have evaluated the document and now they are working on the proposed projects launched by the Commission.
This network will become known as the European Innovation Network on Logistics and Intermodality and is being co-ordinated by ITENE in Spain. The working group's role is to identify agendas and advise the Commission on areas related to Logistics and Transport. The next meeting will be held in Valencia, Spain in 2008.
