The Way Forward in the Logistics & Supply Chain Industry

On April 27. 2009, SSM Group Ltd. has organised an afternoon seminar entitled: The Way Forward in the Logistics and Supply Chain Industry  held at the Victoria Hotel in Sliema.

Today’s logistics and supply chain staff, officers and managers operate in a demanding environment and are charged with streamlining the many and complex activities that provide organisations with the essential materials and services to accomplish their missions, frequently controlling material flows moving in multiple directions across many countries and regions. They must know how to balance cost, effectiveness and risk to fulfil the demands of their organisation’s supply chain and deliver the required customer service levels. All of this takes place against the backdrop of the larger economic and social forces shaping consumption, production and distribution trends across the globe.

Mr. Peter Jones Director of Logistics Learning Alliance based in UK, was the guest speaker for the event. Mr. Jones has presented different case-studies from UK and what companies are doing to survive in this financial crisis which is having an impact on the industry.   

Second speaker was Mr. Frederick Schembri - General Manager of Aurobindo Malta Ltd. Mr. Schembri has addressed the Supply Chain from the Pharmaceutical industry in Malta. What are the industry challenges and how this sector is evolving  and growing in Malta.

The third speaker was Mr. Edward Sant Fournier - Senior Consultant , Philip Toledo Ltd. Mr. Sant Fournier has presented a case -study of how the information technology is developing at a rapid rate and why local companies needs to be aware of the latest information technology standards and integration process and the benefits of the investment in this sector.
